Studies are now showing that women who take a prenatal vitamin at least three months before they get pregnant and one month after reduce the risk of Autism by as much as 50%.
In tests of mothers of children with Autism, it was discovered that most had not taken a prenatal vitamin before or during pregnancy.
Would a multi-vitamin work just as well? Multi-vitamins have most of the same ingredients but not at the same levels. The did not seem to be as beneficial as the prenatal vitamin.
Genes do play a roll in whether or not a child will be autistic, however taking a prenatal vitamin can help to reduce the risk.
A lot more research must be done but these studies show prenatal vitamins can be a good preventative against Autism.
